IN 3 EASY STEPS, the Thera Tech team works together to make it easy for patients to begin their CPM therapy. Here’s how.
STEP 1 – WE SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE PATIENT
Before or after surgery, Thera Tech will call the patient to schedule an appointment
STEP 2 – WE DELIVER, SET UP AND DEMONSTRATE THE EQUIPMENT
Thera Tech will deliver and set up the CPM device and provide thorough hands-on training to ensure the patient is 100% comfortable with the use of the equipment.
STEP 3 – WE ARRANGE THE RETURN OF THE EQUIPMENT TO THERA TECH
Whether by Fed Ex or UPS, Thera Tech provides the shipping container for return shipment by the patient, or we will personally pick up the equipment from the patient’s home. Either way, it’s easy!
As always, Thera Tech provides on-going support for the duration of the patient’s use of the equipment. AND…Thera Tech handles all insurance and billing for the device.
What is CPM?
CPM is Continuous Passive Motion, a post-operative therapy designed to aid in recovery after joint surgery, both in the hospital and at home. If a patient fails to move the joint sufficiently and properly after surgery, it will become stiff and scar tissue will form. This may result in a joint with limited range of motion, from which it can take months of physical therapy to recover. A CPM device is used to move the joint through a prescribed range of motion for an average of 3-6 weeks without the patient’s muscles being used.
Benefits of CPM
- Reduced pain, stiffness and swelling with an increase in synovial fluid flow helping in the healing process
- Increased range of motion
- Decreased formation of random scar tissue or adhesions
